COURSE DESCRIPTION

PTA 112 — PTA Procedures III: Functional Restoration Seminar  (3 cr)

Instructional focus on functional restoration techniques for neurologic, orthopedic and other patients requiring physical therapy; including bed mobility, patient transfers, use of assistive devices, orthotics, and prosthetics, wheelchair positioning, and postural analysis. Issues pertaining to the principles of normal and abnormal gait, Americans with Disability Act pertaining to environmental accessibility and community service opportunities will be explored.  Prerequisite:  Grade of 2.0 or better in previous PTA courses and concurrent enrollment in PTA  111, 151, 171, 172.
